This article is about Loblaw Cos. Ltd has bought the T&T chain. This step was to counter the rival retailer store, Walmart Canada’s move which increasing the amount of international food products. Canada’s population is mainly immigrants. The market of ethnic food would grow greater and greater. Loblaw saw this opportunity and paid $225 million to T&T retailer. After this deal, T&T would still run as it was before and sell some products by Loblaw.

T&T is one of the largest grocery stores in BC. It mainly sells foods and supplies for home cooking. As immigrants, my family goes to T&T a lot. As the deal is done, T&T will sell more western products. I hope the trade doesn’t affect much of our Asian customers and remains its own characteristic.
Reflection:
The recession is still going on. Loblaw’s deal at this time is a great risk. People spend less on shopping during the recession period even though T&T is a grocery stores chain. The profit may come eventually after a few tough years. On the other side, we can see T&T did a very good job on targeting Asian market as grocery stores. And a new era is coming for it under the umbrella of Loblaw.

I think T&T is much expensive then the other stores and they get less stuff than supper store. I think is good for T&T to have some western in it. But don’t change its characteristic. Also different customers for different kind of store are advance, because you can attack more customers and have different kind of view in different people needs.
ReplyDeleteT&T is the main place most of the Asians buys their food or commodity. It provides many imported product we cannot easily buy it in Canadian stores. For instance, the sources for traditional Chinese food, and some chips. Also, they bake fresh bread, and sell it to customers. It really provides a "home" feeling for Asian, especially for Chinese. It is worth to buy in during the recession, and the original price may have gone down a little. We can see the profit growing by the next few year.
